Ontario-based Enterphase Child & Family Services provides mental health services for children, youths, and adults. Started in 1996, the mental health agency offers treatment-oriented residential placements as well as day treatment programs.

Enterphase operates nine licensed residences in the province and currently employs a staff of around 150 people. Enterphase has been a Peninsula client since March 2018.

The agency found the cost of consulting a lawyer for HR and employment law queries to be very high. They were looking for an alternative, somebody reliable they could consult for small, everyday questions and not incur huge legal fees.

“Peninsula reached out to us,” says Jennifer Brunt, Director of Human Resources at Enterphase. “We didn’t know that there was a service of this nature. Once we did, we were quite interested,” she says.

Signing up for Peninsula’s 24/7 HR advice line has been beneficial financially, too, says Jennifer. “The fee base is reasonable. It ended up being less than all of our consultations with our lawyer,” she explains.

Enterphase also gained from Peninsula’s HR documentation service. “Initially, when we signed on that was also a service we took on. We had hiring documentation put together and some policies as well. It was phenomenal,” says Jennifer.

COVID-19

The pandemic brought its own set of challenges for Enterphase and having Peninsula in their corner helped.

“We had a lot of questions. We made a lot of phone calls to Peninsula, especially at the beginning of the pandemic, in particular regarding staff refusing to work,” says Jennifer.

At the start of the pandemic, there was a lot of chaos, uncertainty, and guidelines on what to do and what not to do weren’t always quick and clear.

“Peninsula was a huge help with respect to that,” says Jennifer, “and very knowledgeable. Though there wasn’t a lot of information out there at that time, any Peninsula adviser I spoke to found me answers in one way or another.”
